Mates,
The weather was great, the food was great and the beer cold and the Old Boy Coffee was good. Thanks to Herk and the Queen City Rams for such a great day. Queen City has some very good young old boys (35’s). The Ol’ Pokes were pushed to field a team and we picked up several (our age mates including Scott Norris and several others in order to field a team) Billy Gregg did a great job leading the team ( and believe it or not he made a kick that gave us a score) after a long run try by one of our pick-ups, and we will hear about that for the next couple of years. Thanks all of our regulars that made the match.
The score was QC 55 to Ol’ Pokes 12. Don’t forget our next match on November 2 (The purple & COLD) that Billy is setting up. Jim Bramley did a great job as ref. He is going under the knife the day after Thanksgiving for knee replacement. Good luck Jimbo.
I gave out 22 brochures on the Golden Oldies and hopefully we will pick up some more players from Billy’s and my handouts.
Thanks to one and all of our old boy mates that wanted to join us. Paul Ijs, Tim Stephens, Mike Gary, Brad Polzin, Chris Olsen, Mike Hughes, & many more deserve a “pat on the back” for their interest in OUR RUGBY CLUB FUTURE . See you at the next Ol’ Poke match.
