All,
It is with great regret that we have to cancel our annual Old Boys event in Vail on August 15th. As things are evolving in Colorado, Eagle County and around the USA, it seems the only prudent thing to do at this time.
We have been in frequent communication with Eagle County Public Health concerning rugby in Vail this summer. Originally, the timeline indicated that we would move to the final phase of re-opening in late July which would allow us to play rugby. However in our communication this morning, we have been informed that the move to the next Phase will likely be delayed due to the nationwide spike in Covid cases. In such case, rugby and other contact sports would not be permitted. Regardless of the Phase we are in, Eagle County Public Health Department has strongly “encouraged” us to cancel this event. Given that we are clearly on their radar, it seems to the only choice we have at this point. The likelihood of allowing rugby this summer is slim to none. We had hoped to be able to schedule a few matches for our competitive club side, but we have notified our players that the season is officially cancelled.
Let’s all just do our best to stay safe and stay healthy for a robust return in rugby in 2021.
Be Safe!.
Best regards,
Bart Cuomo
As a quick reminder, all matches and events are dependent on Colorado, Rocky Mountain Rugby, & USA Rugby guidelines to safely allow us to return to play.
