John C. Grummel funeral services

The CSOB RFC has lost another mate. John Grummel passed away this past week. As everybody knows John was a stalwart with our team. He did most of the cooking for our Purple & Gold Family “Get together” for years. He also was one of the original players that help start the CSOB RFC. John was a Harlequin Prop prior to suiting up with the “Ol’ Pokes”. John has many Rugby Friends all over the World. John always went with us (CSOB’s) to the World Golden Oldies and played with us but also with many of the teams he had made friends with through the years of Golden Oldies Rugby. John introduced me to many of his mates from other Teams and if they couldn’t find they would come to me and ask where John was. I usually stated that he was playing a match with one of his Teams on another pitch. John went to the World Golden Oldies before the CSOB Team made it’s first World Golden Oldies tour in 1992 to Dublin, Ireland.

When this mess we have here in Colorado gets over we will start playing matches again. Also we will get back to our “Tight Five” lunch once a month at Casey’s.

Remember the next World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival is here in Colorado in May of next year. VSL is still looking for a facility to fit our needs. I will keep you all in the loop about the Festival. I’ve been working on getting the World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival in Colorado since 2005. For those of you that have never gone to a World Rugby Festival, I really believe you will have the time of your life playing against players in your same age bracket from all over the World.
